Regulators Defined

Diving is an exciting and fantastic activity that can be practiced by everyone, anywhere in the world.  It follows that regulators, being the most important piece of equipment to a diver, need to adapt to an enormous range of different environmental conditions, individual breathing behaviors and personal preferences. Therefore SCUBAPRO offers a large choice of various first and second stages which can be combined to make up numerous kinds of regulator systems.

Some of these systems will work more effi ciently than others depending on diving conditions and diver’s behavior, as their mechanisms and designs teamwork better together. To support your decision in choosing the right regulator, SCUBAPRO has proposed selected systems which fulfill the needs of different ranges of diving and environments perfectly.

Conventional downstream piston first stage technology

The first stage of SCUBAPRO regulators is the benchmark of simplicity
and reliability. The piston is the only moving part in this low
maintenance first stage.

MK2PLUS is a conventional piston first stage.

Over-balanced flow-through piston first stage technology

The proprietary design allows air to flow directly through the hollow interior of the piston shaft, rather than diverting incoming high pressure around the piston and the seating mechanism like conventional piston designs. This technology delivers two significant performance advantages.

First, the piston is unaffected by changes in pressure. Second, regulator is able to deliver significantly higher quantities of air on demand.

MK25T & MK25 are Balanced first stages.

Over-balanced diaphragm first stage technology

Our balanced-diaphragm technology incorporates a pneumatically-balanced, high pressure seat design that withstands delaminating along with a short-throw lifting pin that reduces mechanical drag. The result is a first stage system that responds to ultra-fast flow requests from the second stage.

MK17 & MK11 are Balanced Diaphragm first stages.

Air balanced linear flow valve second stage technology

SCUBAPRO’s Air-Balanced Linear-Flow Valve technology represents the ultimate in air flow performance.

Smaller, lighter spring used in SCUBAPRO’s Air-Balanced Linear-Flow Valve can provide the lowest possible inhalation effort. The result is an ultra-high air flow that remains exceptionally stable under all breathing conditions.

X650, S600T, S600, S555, G250HP are air-balanced second stages.

Venturi-Initiated Vacuum Assisted Technology (VIVA)

SCUBAPRO developed VIVA (Venturi-Initiated
Vacuum Assist) to power assist every breath. A high-velocity air stream
pulls air molecules inside the second stage casing, which generates a
vacuum behind the diaphragm. As the diaphragm draws further inward,
it depresses the lever which maintains the poppet open for a “power
assist” breath.

Classic downstream valve second stage technology

Classic downstream valve second stages are particularly noted for their legendary safety and reliability.

The SCUBAPRO classic downstream valve has been a major factor in second stage designs for many years, and is the featured technology of the R395, R295, R190 and Air 2 second stages.
